MEGATUFF Olympic Weight Bench
Click here if you don't have time to read the review
The humble weight bench comes in all shapes and sizes. The MEGATUFF Olympic weight bench is a light industrial weight bench meaning they're really built to last. All top quality and heavy duty parts and construction.
The basic model is a no frills flat-incline-decline bench with height adjustable, double sided barbell racks. A leg extension (front of thigh) and leg curl (back of thigh) attachment and bicep (front of upper arm) curl attachment are available as optional extras.
These home gyms are basically the same as the MEGATUFF Narrow Weight Benches only wider and a little more expensive. If you have read the MEGATUFF Narrow Weight Benches review you may find this review a bit boring because its very similar. If not read on.
Equipment
- heavy, rust, chip and scratch proof, powder coated, 11-gauge steel frame
high density foam padded bench, seat and pads
thick, double stitched naugahyde upholstery with "hide-em trim"
height adjustable, double sided barbell racks. The height can be adjusted by matching the number of the pin holes on each rack. A simple but great idea, see "Pros" for more on that.
- optional leg and arm attachment
Size
The MEGATUFF Olympic weight bench is a little shorter than average because it does not have the leg attachment found on most home gyms nowadays.
It is 52"(length) x 54"(wide). Adding a bar and allowing for walk around space means you will need about 7' x 5'.
It's heavier than it looks because of it's heavy construction at 136.5lbs
Warranty
Lifetime warranty. This home gym really is solid and should last a lifetime.
Pros
- the barbells racks are double sided. The real benefit of this is you can train from both sides of the rack. For example, press from the bench side and upright rows from the other. Another great benefit is its more difficult to overshoot the rack at the end of a set and throw the barbell over your head onto the floor (I've seen it happen!)
- the height adjusting holes on the racks are numbered. Why, why, why aren't all racks like this. How much time have I wasted in the last 15 years counting the number of holes on each side to make sure it's even? Too many.
- the bench declines
- excellent quality materials and manufacturing. It is not made from thin, flimsy metal tubing that warps and stretches like a lot of lower cost gyms
Cons
- leg and arm attachments have to be bought as extras which means more money
- the high quality, light industrial construction and materials equals a high price
Overall
If you need a bench for a club room, school, college or any place where its going to get a lot of use, and I mean a lot because this gym will take it then the MEGATUFF Olympic is a fine choice.
If its just for home you could go for something a little cheaper and possible with a few more frills to boot.
